We recently supported and took part in the very first Hamble Classics Regatta hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. With over 65 classic boats on the water from Herreshoff gaffers to a Swan 65 there were plenty of beautifully crafted sailboats on the Solent to admire and cherish.
We joined event organiser Jonty Sherwill on his stunning 21′ 6″ wooden dayboat ‘Cockleshell’ and were delighted to finish second in the IRC 2 class. It was fantastic to see such beautiful boats on the water and some famous faces on the startline including Sir Robin-Knox Johnston in his lovely boat ‘Suhaili.’
As well as exciting racing on the water competitors were treated to a lively rum dockside party after sailing and a wonderful sit down dinner and prize giving in the evening.
We hope this was the first of many successful Classic regattas in Hamble and look forward to supporting this great event again next year!
